Making a Difference Award for Watch Manager

Date: 11th January, 2024

Watch Manager Steve Field from Swindon has been recognised for leading and managing a complex project to bring together staff training records and requirements at Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Steve received a Making A Difference Award, sponsored by Airbus Defence and Space, during his retirement presentation just before Christmas at Westlea fire station, watched by colleagues, friends and family.

Group Manager Wayne Presley, Head of Operational Training, made the presentation and said: “It was a pleasure to present Steve with this award. His experience and dedication has allowed for the successful delivery of such a complex project, which resulted in the accurate recording of staff training and competencies throughout the whole workforce.”

A spokesperson for Airbus said “It was a pleasure to have been a Gold Sponsor of the Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service Making a Difference Award. These awards are important, as they recognise those who go beyond what is expected of them to ensure that a cause or project is successful, whilst also finding new ways of working when facing challenges.

“In this project, Steve went beyond what was expected of him to ensure that it was a success, whilst representing those affected by it. From all of us here at Airbus, a massive congratulations.”
