Date: 23rd May, 2023
Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service held its annual awards ceremony on Thursday 18 May at Tidworth Garrison Theatre.
The event recognised staff achieving 20, 30 and 40 years of public service. There were also presentations of Chief Fire Officer’s Commendations, recognising meritorious conduct above and beyond the call of duty, and a number of other awards.
Long Service and Good Conduct Medals and Clasps were presented to staff by the Lord Lieutenant of Dorset, Angus Campbell, and the Deputy Lieutenant of Wiltshire, Luke March.
Other distinguished guests included the High Sheriff of Dorset, Colin Weston; the High Sheriff of Wiltshire, Pradeep Bhardwaj; and members of Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Authority.
Chief Fire Officer Ben Ansell said: “The awards ceremony is a wonderful way to bring people together and celebrate the depth and breadth of work being delivered by all parts of our Service. This is not just across our prevention, protection, emergency response and corporate functions, but also in all parts of our Service area, which comprises the constituent authorities of Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole, Dorset, Swindon and Wiltshire.”
He added: “As well as recognising the achievements of our staff, it is always an opportunity to give personal thanks to the families and friends who have supported them and the work of our Service. It is often this support that has enabled the quite outstanding achievements to take place.”
