Description: Approx 50 firefighters are dealing with a heath fire near Winfrith Newburgh. Firefighters are using hose reels and beaters to deal with the fire which is affecting a large area of heathland and gorse.
The public are kindly asked to avoid the area.
Update 19:45 - the fire has been surrounded and crews are dampening down.
Update 21:45 - all fire engines have now left the scene of this incident. A crew will reinspect tomorrow morning to ensure there are no hotspots.
30/07/24 Update 11:20 - Firefighters are returning to the incident this morning after reports of a couple of areas of heathland smoking. On arrival crews found a small area of heath smoking. This was extinguished using hose reels. Colleagues from Dorset Heath Partnership remained on the scene and firefighters will be returning at 3.30pm to reinspect the incident.
