Incident at Swanage

Date: 23rd October, 2024

Time: 7:47am

Description: Firefighters were called at 7.47am this morning (23 October) to assist the ambulance service in Ulwell Road, Swanage. We currently have four fire crews on scene from Swanage, Wareham, Westbourne, Poole, a support vehicle from Dorchester along with two crews from Winchester (Hampshire and IOW FRS). We are working with Dorset Police, South West Ambulance Service and other partners to resolve this incident.
We are asking the public to avoid the area to allow the emergency services to deal with this incident.
Media statement given at 5.30pm: I’m Area Manager Darren Langdown, from Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service. Firstly, I would like to express our shock and sadness at what has happened here today, and our thoughts and condolences are very much with all those affected. We have had a number of crews on scene since eight o’clock this morning, supporting the investigation. This has included specialist support from our colleagues in Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. As Heather has said, potential carbon monoxide poisoning is the primary line of enquiry, although investigations are continuing. We will continue to support the other agencies involved, as required, as the incident continues.
7pm - FRS had left the scene.
