Flooding incidents 16.01.2023

Date: 16th January, 2023

Description: Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service have attended three separate, significant flooding incidents this morning (16 January 2023).

Two crews from Christchurch were called to Greywell at 5.26am this morning to an incident involving two people trapped in their car in flood water. Firefighters brought them to safety and our stop came in at 5.59am.

Another call was received at 5.49am this morning about a car in floodwater at the Bakers Arms roundabout at Upton. A crew and technical rescue team from Poole attended and pushed the car to safety – the stop for this one was at 6.11am.

We were called to Old Barn Farm Road, Three Legged Cross at 7.33am for reports of cars in flood water. A crew from Verwood and a technical rescue team from Poole attended and three people were rescued, two from their vehicles and one from a tree. The water is also affecting nearby industrial units so firefighters brought 23 people to a place of safety. Volunteers from the British Red Cross, who operate from Springbourne fire station, attended to provide support. The water levels have since begun to recede and our stop came through at 9.53am.
