Description: 6:45am - We were called to a commercial property fire on Ling Road, Poole at 5:00am today. Fire engines from Poole, Hamworthy, Redhill Park, Ferndown, Westbourne and Springbourne were mobilised. Specialist support appliances from Dorchester and Poole are also attending. Firefighters in breathing apparatus are using two main lines, one hose reel jet and one safety jet to tackle the fire. Resilience arrangements across the BCP area have been put into place including standby moves from neighbouring stations. Further updates to follow.
Update 7:50am - A total of 20 firefighters in breathing apparatus extinguished the fire and the incident will be scaled back shortly to three pumps. Crews remain on scene to dampen down and assist site staff. Our stop was in at 7:45am.
Under Environment Agency guidelines there is a target time for extinguishing any waste site fire of four hours. This was achieved thanks to early detection and good liaison with the on site staff.
Update 10:20am - All crews have now left the scene and the incident has now been handed over to the site management.
