Building fire – Four Wells Road, Colehill

Date: 13th December, 2024

Time: 11.58am

Description: We were called to Four Wells Road, Colehill at 11.58am this morning to reports of a property fire affecting the loft. Crews from Wimborne, Ferndown, Redhill Park, Westbourne, Springbourne and Poole alongside an aerial ladder platform from Westbourne and a command unit from Hamworthy were mobilised to the incident and approx. 35 firefighters were on scene. On arrival, they found a well-developed fire in the roof of the property.

Three further appliances were mobilised from Verwood and Christchurch, as well as a water carrier from Ringwood (Hampshire & Isle of Wight FRS).

Twelve breathing apparatus users used three hose reel jets, one main jet, one safety jet and the aerial ladder platform to extinguish the fire.

At this stage, the cause of the fire is unknown, but an investigation will be carried out when it is safe to do so.

2.00pm update: The incident is now being scaled back and firefighters have worked hard to successfully avoid further spread to neighbouring properties.

3.00pm update: Two hose reel jets and one main line are being used to protect the property and the incident has been scaled back to five appliances.

4.00pm update: Our stop came in at 3.49pm.

8.00pm update: An investigation has now taken place and the cause of the fire is believed to be accidental, due to sparks from a grinder.
