The department’s principal areas of concern are:

  • Freedom of Information and governance transparency
  • Compliments and complaints
  • Internal and external communications and engagement
  • Media relations, including training and support to operational officers
  • Corporate videos and promotion
  • Website and Intranet
  • Promotion of public safety events
  • Graphic design and photography
  • Ceremonial awards
  • Secretarial support to Chief Fire Officer and Strategic Leadership Team
  • Switchboard and headquarters services
  • Democratic and Member Services

Health & Safety

The department’s principal areas of concern are:

  • Advising on policies relating to health, safety and welfare of all members of staff
  • Being principal point of contact for the Health & Safety Executive
  • Assisting and coordinating risk assessments, audits and improvement plans
  • Response to external improvement notices and reports
  • Learning from incidents and near misses
  • Management advice, training and reporting
  • Co-ordination of efforts to achieve an externally accredited standard

The department’s principal areas of concern are:
