Swanage is an on-call station, so its firefighters have other jobs and obligations. They commit time to the Fire & Rescue Service throughout the week and respond to emergency calls when paged.
This is also a co-responder station, where firefighters support the ambulance service by attending medical emergencies ahead of a paramedic arriving.

- One fire engine with off-road capability
- One small 4×4 pumping appliance
- A co-responder vehicle
